4th Annual Kerry Cultural Exhibition
On Saturday the 27th August 2016 the Kerry Islamic Outreach Society held their 4th Annual Cultural Exhibition in the Brandon Hotel.
As soon as one entered the Exhibition you were welcomed by the organisers and volunteers with light refreshments and genuine hospitality.
There were a variety of stalls on the day with information from Islamic Cultural, Women's rights in Islam, explaining the Hijab and Muslim women's dress, Human Rights and Adapt Kerry women's Refuge had a stall, where all proceeds were donated to on the day.
I learned a lot about the Islamic Outreach Society and their work in Tralee. They are a community voluntary group who are registered under Kerry County Council.
I was very impressed with a lot of the voluntary work they do which was explained to me in quite a modest way by some of the volunteers.
In the past year KIOS have been involved in elderly care in the community, and their project for Winters has shown great success in providing warm clothes and accessories in the elderly care centre.
They have also spent the last two years helping Enable Ireland fund raise especially for Enable Ireland Kerry group.
It was also brought to my attention that KIOS have been very much involved in the Tralee tidy town in recent years. Taking pride in their town area.
Finally I want to thank all involved for a very informative Exhibition and look forward to next year.
